It’s been officially one year since the kickoff of this crazy ride called “3 Bags in 2 Days.”
We just celebrated our one-year birthday on November 14th. It was such a sweet time of community and reflecting over what been happening over this past year. Everyone in the whole spectrum of 3 Bags was represented. That was the most beautiful part of the evening. And of course, no party is complete without the edition of a sweet disco ball and music and of course…birthday cake!
Little did we know at that we would get to this point because we just look at ourselves as regular college kids that saw a need and are doing a small thing to try and fill it, but what we realize now is how this “little” thing is being used in big ways. It’s hard to put into words what this past year has been like but one thing that we know is that this journey is far bigger than us. We have gotten so many opportunities to help serve people all over in places like Ethiopia and Haiti. We have learned so much about the face of homelessness and poverty in our area and know we still have a lot more to learn.
We cannot express how much we LOVE and ADORE our volunteers. The volunteers that so willingly take the challenges we dish out to them and get excited about going to the store and clearing out a shelf of peanut butter or seeing the looks on the cashiers face whenever they ring up your cart full of baby wipes. It priceless and this isn’t possible without all of YOU. Those of you that take the time to donate whatever you can whether it’s one travel size item our loads of deodorant. All is important and goes towards help those living in poverty.
One thing that still always amazes us is that we right now we operate only off of individuals donations. Someone sees a need, a gives us tuna or a package of socks. We are at 1,639 bags and are still going strong. That’s because of you all. Your are making a difference is the world. Whether you see it or not, its happening. We forever will always appreciate you guys.
So this 1-year celebration wasn’t just for us. It for all of us that stepped outside ourselves and are now seeing the world through a new set of eyes. It’s for everyone who made the conscious choice to help and take the time in giving dignity and respect back to those who feel they have lost it. Thank you so much! We cannot wait to see what lies ahead in the next year.

Here’s to the crazy ones.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
While some see them as the crazy ones,
we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.
