HOPE NWA 2011…grace

On Tuesday of last week we had the distinct privilege of serving alongside some amazing NW Arkansas organizations and incredible people to participate in HOPE NWA 2011.  Final numbers will be released soon, but we are told that over 350 families/people were served during the one day resource event held at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. HOPE NWA 2011 began 3 years ago by Dr. Kevin Fitzpatrick, Professor and Jones Chair in Community Director, Community and Family Institute, and it is incredible to see how the community has come alongside to support those in need. Shear Kindness at Restoration Village & Havenwood

Shear Kindness was at it again on Jan 17th and 18th teaming up with the Junior League of NW Arkansas to serve the women and children of Restoration Village and Havenwood. The smiles say it all!! It was amazing to hear the women open up so quickly and share glimpses of their life story as they got their hair cut. The whole “salon environment” even when it is created somewhere else just lends itself to conversations about life. We love taking that opportunity to listen and to make those women and their sweet children feel beautiful and special. A big “Thank You!” to stylists Michelle...

Shear Kindness serves students at R.E. Baker Elementary School

Posted by Emily Kaler, Cobblestone Project Founding Member… Shear Kindness makes its way into our first school! With the help of local stylists (Mia Bella Salon in Bentonville) donating their time and skills, Shear Kindness was able to work with R.E. Baker in providing free haircuts to some of our students. Permission slips went home and the children were explained about what was going to be happening. They were SO excited! They asked social workers and counselors for days when "haircut" day would be. As we picked up the kids one by one, you could sense their excitement as...
